Ways to beat mid-week madness

Long working hours, heavy workloads, and relentless managers are just a few reasons why the mid-week madness starts to be felt by workers. Here are a few tips on how to pep up yourself when it feels like a drag for a week.

Treat yourself

Whoever said treats are just for holidays? If you feel even the slightest bit depressed about it not being the weekend already, grab your phone and order a pizza with your favourite toppin. Buy some new shoes, get a massage or go just go shopping.

Get Creative

What always helps in such situations is projecting your feelings in the most creative way possible. For example, if you’re an artist, bring your feelings out on a canvas. If you’re a writer, write about it. You’re sad, you might as well get a benefit out of it. You could get a good blog, or a good painting, and it does wonders, as now you’ve let your feelings out the way you like best. Even if you’re not good at drawing, try doing that. Make some funny doodles, just move the pencil around. It’s always better to be doing something than thinking about negative things. You might want to hide your masterpieces in a place where no one finds them, ever. lol

Music

The effect of music on your soul is immense. It is the most efficient way of obstructing all the negativity from consuming you. Mid-week blues are sad vibes originating from your brain, which make everything around you boring. Nothing in your environment seems entertaining enough, and hence you feel low. That’s when you turn up the music. Take a 15-minute break from whatever it is that you’re doing and listen to your favourite song. For a while, ignore all that is going around you and indulge yourself in the soothing effect of music. You can always sing along, but keep in mind that you’re around people. You don’t want to end up in a viral social media video.

Meditation

There are all kind of thoughts going on in your mind. You’ll find yourself asking a lot of questions which need definite answers. You’ll wonder why all this is important, and how easy it would be if you were on a backpacking adventure to the mountains or a day on the ocean for those in the tropics. What you need to do here is relax. It’s not as bad as it looks. To stay motivated through the week, all you need to do is relax. Think about all the times everything you did made sense. Make yourself believe how this is just a phase and it’ll all pass away once it’s Friday. Meditate a little to free your brain from all your depressing thoughts and hit your restart button.

Prayer

You know what being in the mid-week means? The weekend is close! It doesn’t have to necessarily be in a day, but it’s right around the corner. You’ll be taking a break in a few days, and you can enjoy the weekend in a few days. Only, you need to concentrate on your work in the week to be able to take full advantage of the weekend. Do you want to end up with incomplete deadlines and loads of work on the weekend as well? No, you don’t. You’ll have to pray about all things that are causing you anxiety, stress and worry. There is nothing that God can't handle. Take your worries to him in prayer and finish your work week like a boss.

Journaling

It's simply writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. And if you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal is a great idea. It can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health. Buy one of my journals here.
